The story behind the photograph

Twisted oak branches arch over a slope alive with color at Rochester Cemetery Prairie Oak Savanna in Rochester, Iowa. Blue phlox (Phlox divaricata), red wild columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), golden alexanders (Zizia aurea), wild geranium (Geranium maculatum), and midland shooting star (Dodecatheon meadii) all bloom together in one of the most extraordinary spring wildflower displays in Iowa. A savanna at its most lavish and alive.

A meaningful gift for a spring wildflower enthusiast, oak savanna lover, Iowa nature admirer, or anyone who has ever stood at the base of an old oak in May and felt like they stumbled into the most beautiful place on earth.

Back of card: Blank, with the Midwest Wilderness Connections logo and the following description along the bottom edge: “Spring wildflower carpet at Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, Iowa. — Midwest Wilderness Connections www.MidwestWildernessConnections.com”
