The story behind the photograph

American sycamores (Platanus occidentalis) stand tall with their pale white trunks against a hillside flushed pink with eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis) at Kickapoo State Recreation Area in Oakwood, Illinois. Fresh spring green is just emerging, and quiet quarry water reflects the scene below. The Midwest woodland at its most fleeting and most lovely.

A meaningful gift for a nature lover, tree enthusiast, Illinois outdoor admirer, or anyone who marks the arrival of spring by the first blush of redbud along a riverbank.

Back of card: Blank, with the Midwest Wilderness Connections logo and the following description along the bottom edge: “American Sycamore & Eastern Redbud in Spring. Kickapoo State Recreation Area, Oakwood, Illinois. — Midwest Wilderness Connections www.MidwestWildernessConnections.com”
