A small herd of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) stands alert along a snowy prairie ridgeline at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City, Iowa — tawny coats warm against the pale blue winter sky, ears up, eyes scanning, dried grasses poking through the snow around them. A quintessential Iowa winter wildlife moment, wide and open and still.

This card is also available in a festive holiday version featuring the same serene winter scene — with Santa hats added for a little seasonal cheer.
