I receive many requests for photos of historic Midwest barns. Luckily, I have quite a few. Many of the old barns provide habitat for wildlife on farmsteads. Barn owls are the most famous wildlife species known to use barns. Prior to barns, these owls nested in rock crevices, tree holes, and sometimes underground. Countless numbers of bats, rodents and snakes also frequent barns for food and shelter.
